Troop 3154 recently took the Girl Scout Tree Promise and planted 31 saplings and shrubs at Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark in Dayton!
The girls wanted to help rebuild the greenery in this area, which was devastated by the 2019 Memorial Day tornadoes that caused the loss of many trees and shrubs. During their time planting, the girls were very inquisitive about the types of saplings and shrubs being planted, as well as the surrounding foliage and ecosystem. After some assistance planting the first half of the trees, the troop took charge to measure, dig holes, and plant the rest of the saplings themselves. They are all looking forward to revisiting the area this fall and in the coming years to see the growth and change, and their hope is to make this an annual act of service to continue assisting the MetroPark build what was lost. Great work making an impact on the community, Girl Scouts!
