Fossil Discovery

With the help of a Naturalist, search and find fossilized remains of ancient marine animals that once lived in shallow sea that covered Ohio. Meet at the Nature Center; participants will travel in their personal vehicles to the collection site.

Give a Hoot — Don't Pollute!

Show your love for Hueston Woods State Park by joining a park litter pick-up. Afterwards, you'll meet an owl up-close and learn why a clean environment is important to them and other wild animals. Meet at the Nature Center; participants will travel in their personal vehicles to the site.

Pioneer Farm Museum Tour
Saturday, September 14, 2:30 - 4 p.m. | All ages
Step back in time to explore Ohio's pioneer heritage with a guided tour of the Hueston Woods Pioneer Farm Museum. The property includes the Doty Home, Township Trustee's Building, and 1840s Dairy Barn. The Pioneer Farm Museum is operated by the Oxford Museum Association, in partnership with Hueston Woods State Park.
Scheduled tour will begin at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of participating in the scheduled tour, the grounds are open for self-guided experiences on Saturday and Sunday from 12 - 4 p.m.

Big Woods Hike
Sunday, September 15, 10 - 11 a.m. | All ages
Take a journey with a Naturalist into an old growth forest and explore the sights and sounds of nature along the way. Meet at the Nature Center; participants will travel in their personal vehicles to the trailhead. Participants should wear sturdy footwear and bring water. No pets, please.

Reptiles of Ohio
Sunday, September 15, 12 - 1 p.m. | All ages
The Hueston Woods Nature Center is home to many live animals, including several species of reptiles. Get an up-close look at these scaly residents with the help of a Naturalist. Stay afterwards to explore the rest of the Nature Center and visit the park's other critters which include fish, mammals, and birds of prey.
